Malibu Wine Safari

Get your wine on. In the WILD

A wine safari? Need we say more? Welcome to Malibu Wine Safaris: where you’ll ride in style via open air safari jeeps lead by a trusty team of wine and safari animal experts, in the picturesque Saddlerock Ranch and vineyards in the hills of Malibu, California.

Hearing the buzz about the safari via Instagram and word of mouth, we decided to book a trip with friends to kick off the summer. Driving up the Calabasas hills to the tour spot was a dream in itself-we couldn’t believe that we were only 30 minutes away from LA.

We began our journey meandering through the hills and vineyards to the first tasting spot located on a private ranch adorned with orange trees, a picket fence, and room to explore and mingle. Here, we tasted three delicious local Malibu wines and enjoyed the open air and quiet ranch-style ambiance.

Off to our next location, further up the mountain where buckets of carrots and lettuce were ready for us to feed to the locals. Zebras, camels, yaks, and alpacas enjoyed our yummy treats and the photo ops were plentiful.

And because two wine tastings are better than one, we stopped next at a beautiful field with vintage airstreams and a VW bus with the gorgeous Malibu hills as our backdrop. Here, our tour guides paired crackers and jam with our next set of tastings to make our experience a little more festive. Our tour ended around noon, which put us at the perfect hour to grab lunch at Malibu Farm at the pier drenched in the eternal California sunshine.

We opted for the Explorer Tour: $65/person for an hour and a half safari experience with six tastings-We highly recommend that option if you’re just starting out with Malibu Wine Safari. We’ll definitely be back for more and hope you get a chance to experience this dreamy day trip!
