“Test driving employees is a great way to get to know a candidate, before making the full investment of bringing them onboard permanently,” career coach Joel Garfinkle told FOX News. “Obviously, what each employer is specifically looking for during this ‘test drive’ is different. However, there are some general factors that usually help determine whether or not a temp successfully transitions to full-time.”
Here are Travel Placement Service’s top tips for turning a temporary job into full-time employment:
Communicate: If you are hoping to join the team full-time, politely but clearly communicate that to the appropriate managers. You often won’t get what you don’t ask for!
Do your research: Staffing expert Tom Egan tells Boston.com that it’s important to know as much as possible about the company you are working for to demonstrate your enthusiasm and commitment.
Pretend it’s a job interview: If a manager is considering offering you a direct hire position, remember that he or she is likely keeping a close eye on your attitude, performance and demeanor. Put your best foot forward at all times.
